Space matters: reducing energy disparity in Nepal through spatially equitable renewable energy subsidies

چکیده
Abstract: Affordability is a major barrier to the adoption of clean energy technologies in low-income countries, which partly why many governments provide subsidies offset some upfront (installation) costs. However, simple administrative rules might not fully account for economic geography, resulting lower remote areas. Using regression analysis on rich dataset adoption, cost and subsidy about 4000 Nepalese Village Development Committees over 22 years, we show that administratively determined lumpsum disproportionately hurt communities. Simulations adjusting spatially reflect geographic living, can increase technology adoption. Thus, spatial targeting key accelerating access settings such as Hindu Kush Himalaya.

Reducing Reliability Uncertainties for Marine Renewable Energy
Technology Readiness Levels (TRLs) are a widely used metric of technology maturity and risk for marine renewable energy (MRE) devices. To-date, a large number of device concepts have been proposed which have reached the early validation stages of development (TRLs 1–3). Only a handful of mature designs have attained pre-commercial development status following prototype sea trials (TRLs 7–8). In...
متن کاملan environmental & economic analysis for reducing energy subsidies
this paper estimates the trend of total energy subsidies from year 2003 (that is 16.68% of gdp) and running a model, predicts that energy subsidies will reach to 20% of gdp by 2019 if subsidies continue. also environmental damage costs of energy consumption have been entered the model (environmental cost-benefit analysis model: ecba model) in addition to the vast amounts of subsidies. so damage...
متن کاملEconomic Growth and Renewable Energy in Iran
Energy plays an active role in sustainable development in Iran, both in the sustainable and the development aspects. This study aims to estimate the nexus of economic growth and the renewable energy in Iran during 1981-2012. We employ the Auto-Regressive Distributed Lag (ARDL) model to estimate a log-linear equation. The results suggest that renewable energy consumption is an insignificant driv...
متن کاملComputing optimal subsidies for Iranian renewable energy investments using real options
For the valuation of the renewable energy investments, providing private investors with a financial incentive to accelerate their investment is a very significant issue. Financial subsidies are known by the majority of the people to be one of the most important drivers in renewable energy expansion and one of the main reasons which result in the development of any industry. In this paper, we pr...
